Officers responded to a medical call late on Sunday and went to the eatery, according to a statement from the police on Wednesday. Daly had lost consciousness and was being treated by emergency personnel when they arrived.

Police reported that Daly “looked extremely inebriated and uncooperative” while inside the restaurant, repeatedly refused to be taken to the hospital, and was asked to leave by a number of staff members.

For a 24-hour stay until he was sober, Daly was transferred to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center.

Even though Daly confirmed his ban at the time, PGA TOUR spokesperson Ty Votaw declined to comment, citing the TOUR’s longstanding rule of not discussing penalties or suspensions.

Daly made the decision to go public during the first three months of the season when he generally plays on the West Coast and in Florida “to be fair to my fans and tournament organizers.”

His most recent triumph was at the 2004 Buick Invitational, and according to Daly, his five-year exemption as a former champion expires this year.

He declared that he would carry on competing on the European Tour, beginning with a three-week trip to the United Arab Emirates.
