British-American
novelist Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie. CH FRSL was born in India on June 19, 1947.
His writing frequently combines historical fiction and magical realism, and it focuses on the interactions, clashes, and migrations between Eastern and Western cultures on the Indian subcontinent.
Salman Rushdie allegedly endured the threat of violence for many years.
His fourth book, The Satanic Verses, was immediately faced with criticism from Muslims due to how the prophet Muhammad was portrayed.

The
Satanic Verses and Midnight’s Children author Salman Rushdie, who won the Booker Prize, was attacked on Friday morning at a gathering in New York state.
Rushdie was on a ventilator and unable to talk, according to his agent Andrew Wylie, who told the New York Times on Friday evening.
The incident is the most recent in a string of threats against Rushdie’s life and ideas, which began with the controversy surrounding the publication of The Satanic Verses in 1988. The attacker’s motive is still unknown, however.
