The Red Viper of Dorne, also referred to as Prince Oberyn Martell, was the father of the Sand Snakes, a group of eight bastard daughters who were raised by House Martell, the dynasty that ruled Dorne. He also participated in the Dorne Small Council under Tommen I. He was the younger brother of Elia Martell and Doran Martell. He became legendary because of his prowess with the staff, passion for vengeance, and fluid sexuality.
Prince Oberyn, like the majority of House Martell, was referred to as “Prince” rather than “Lord.” He was Princess Elia Martell’s and Prince Doran Martell’s younger brother. He was known as “the Red Viper” because of his mastery of poisons and distinct, deadly fighting techniques. The raven sheds a single tear while sitting atop a statue of a dire wolf before soaring far into the Stark family tomb.
He starts to think that even though his father is supposed to be at King’s Landing alive and well, the raven is asking him to travel there in order to find him there after having the dream once more. He begs Osha to go to the crypts with him because he wants to learn more.
