Despite the fact that his career was cut short due to back problems, Mike Bossy was an important player on the Isles Cup teams from 1980 to 1983.

The Canadian hockey player is rated 22nd all-time in NHL history in goals and is notable for being a member of the club that established the NHL record with 19 consecutive playoff series wins.

Bossy, a four-time Stanley Cup winner with the Islanders, was chosen 15th overall in the 1977 NHL Draft.

He went on to win the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year after scoring 53 goals and 91 points in 91 games.

He was with the squad for his entire 10-year career, ending as the franchise’s all-time greatest scorer with 573 goals.
Bossy was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992, and he was named to the Hall of Fame again in 2017.

Bossy still owns the Isles’ goal-scoring record with 573 and is second in points with 1,126.
