Nigerian politician and accountant Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu (born March 29, 1952) held the offices of Lagos State Governor from 1999 to 2007 and Senator for Lagos West during the Third Republic’s brief existence.
He was selected as the All Progressives Congress’s candidate for the 2023 Nigerian presidential election in June 2022.
Tinubu was born and raised in the southwest of Nigeria. After moving to the United States, he attended Chicago State University to study accounting.
After moving back to Nigeria in the early 1980s, he worked as an accountant for Mobil Nigeria before joining politics in 1992 as the Social Democratic Party’s candidate for the Lagos West senate seat.

The main reason he is often called BAT is because that is the acronym of his name Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, there are other funny reasons why some people call him by the bird’s name. The belief: He engages in dubious business and bats travel at night.
