The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly made a decision on the future of head coach Andy Reid.

Swirling rumors suggested that the legend may consider walking away, despite the Chiefs thrilling Super Bowl win on Sunday.

Why is ‘Andy Reid retire’ trending?

There had been some speculation that Reid planned to retire after leading the Chiefs to a third Super Bowl over the weekend.

It was reported in January that Kansas City was prepared for the possibility of Reid retiring after the 2023 campaign.

The two-time Super Bowl champion is 65-years-old and has two years left on his current contract.

Quarterback Travis stated he doesn’t want to play for anyone except Andy Reid.

On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce threatened to quit football if Reid retired from football.

“I’m a passionate guy,” Kelce said.

“I love Coach Reid, Coach Reid knows how much I love to play for him, how much I love to be a product of his coaching career.

“I’m not playing for anybody else but Big Red. If he calls it quits this year I’m out of there with him, man.”

What has Andy Reid said about retiring?

Andy Reid has confirmed that he would not be retiring after leading the Kansas City Chiefs to Super Bowl LVIII.

The veteran head coach then joked he was mad at Bill Belichick for leaving the New England Patriots as it meant that he was the one being constantly being asked retirement questions.

“I’m mad at Belichick and Pete because now I get asked all those questions,” Reid said.

Reid confirmed his status at a Monday post-Super Bowl press conference.

“I haven’t even thought about (retirement),” he said.

“People keep asking me. I haven’t really gone there. I haven’t really thought about it.”

CBS reported earlier Sunday that Reid is “more likely” to receive an extension than leaving the game.

“He’s not retiring,” sources told the outlet. “He’s not paid what he should be getting paid. Problem with the whole organization. Pay has not been what it should be all the way top to bottom.”

The same report also revealed that he’s set to receive the new deal no matter the outcome of the big game.
