After adopting an American twang as a child in an attempt to sound like his movie hero Marlon Brando, Ryan Gosling struggles to talk in his original Canadian accent.

The Notebook star changed his enunciation to sound tougher than he is, but now he finds it difficult to talk in his genuine voice.

He says to W, “I used to think that a Canadian accent didn’t sound harsh. Guys should sound like Marlon Brando, I thought. So now I have a bogus accent that I can’t get rid of, and it’s no longer artificial.

I’m going for the Madonna or Lady Gaga impression – a false accent that becomes your signature.”
