Bernadette Davis and Andrew Davies, two television screenwriters, collaborated on the creation of the first two seasons of the BBC sitcom Game On. In the third series, she worked alone. She was nominated for a BAFTA in 1997 for the movie Game On.
It was said of Game On that it was “a sitcom so of its time, that it drew its name from a slogan of the decade” and that it was “a component of a zeitgeist that came to define a generation.” She pursued studies in both drama and English at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Based on the Dennis Danvers novel, Davis and Andrew Davies co-wrote the 1996 miniseries Wilderness. She also contributed to the 1997 Soldier Soldier episode “Line of Departure” in that year.
In 2000, she created the six-episode sitcom series The Wilsons, in which David Bradley and Julian Rhind-Tutt both played supporting roles. She penned the comedy series Some Girls for BBC Three in 2012. The first season premiered in November 2012, and the second season followed in September 2013.
Some Girls is defined as follows: “a comedy featuring the kind of women that frequently appear in upsetting documentaries about inner-city kids. A group of 16 and 17-year-old kids at [a] Comprehensive School in London are the focus of the television series.”
