Vanilla Ice, who was born on October 31, 1967, in South Dallas, was raised in South Florida and Texas, and in 1989, Ichiban Records published his debut album, Hooked.

He later released a reformatted version of the album under the title To the Extreme in 1990 after signing with SBK Records, a record label owned by the EMI Group. This album quickly became the fastest-selling hip-hop album of all time.

Robert Matthew Van Winkle, an American rapper, actor, and television personality go by the stage name Vanilla Ice.

Why do they call him Vanilla Ice?

The first hip-hop song to top the Billboard charts, “Ice Ice Baby,” is credited with expanding the popularity of hip-hop by offering a more mainstream message. The album included two of Ice’s most well-known singles:

Quickly after, Van Winkle started combat rapping at events, and as a result of his rhymes, his friends soon started calling him “MC Vanilla”.

Van Winkle’s stage moniker, “Vanilla Ice,” was a mix of his nickname “Vanilla” and one of his breakdance moves, “The Ice.” He chose it when he joined a breakdance company.
