Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh is best recognized for her parts in the 2006 film Memoirs of a Geisha and the 1997 James Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies.
She was given the role of Captain Philippa Georgiou in the 2017 season of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access. After three seasons on the program, Yeoh announced her retirement from Star Trek: Discovery in October 2020.
She issued a statement in which she stated, “I have made the difficult decision to depart Star Trek: Discovery. I’ve had the distinction of portraying Captain Philippa Georgiou and developing her persona over the course of the past three seasons. I am incredibly appreciative of the cast and crew’s effort and commitment, as well as the backing of CBS and CBS All Access. I’m interested in what lies ahead for all of us.
Why did Michelle Yeoh leave Discovery?
Yeoh made the announcement that she was quitting the show to work on a spin-off. Emperor Georgiou allegedly required additional journeys in order to travel, according to the actress.
