Why did Marlon Brando wear a prosthetic?
Marlon Brando was a talented actor who knew exactly what to do to get great parts in several of his movies. In the 1972 movie “The Godfather”, Marlon Brando wanted to make Don Corleone “look like a bulldog,” so he stuffed his cheeks with cotton wool for the audition.
Marlon Brando had aced the audition and got the part, and for the filming of the movie, he had a dentist make him a custom mouthpiece to create his sagging jowls. Today this appliance is on display in the American Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York.
