Why did Linda Purl leave the Matlock Show?

According to the plot, she had relocated to Philadelphia in order to open her own law practice. In truth, this was due to Linda Purl’s decision to give up acting after playing his daughter Charlene. She apparently quit acting and Hollywood altogether to pursue a career as a jazz pianist.

After disagreements regarding her character and castmates, Linda Purl left the program near the end of the first season. Six seasons into the show, Nancy Stafford made the decision to stop. She didn’t want to move because she had just been married and shooting was shifting to North Carolina.
