Jeff has clarified the reasons why the couple broke up in 2004 after two years of dating, despite the fact that they never made an official declaration about it.
Why did Jeff Brazier and Jade Goody split?
He said : “Things that were personal to us kept appearing in the papers.
“[We’d ask] how do they know that? We were convinced that [each other] or people around us were selling stories and making money on things that were very contentious for us.
“‘You sold a story’, ‘no I haven’t you must have done it’, ‘I haven’t done it must be your mate’, ‘they haven’t done it must be your mate’, and trust disintegrated to nothing.”
He then attributed the leaking of stories to having their phones tapped, saying: “Looking back now it was entirely obvious we were being hacked.”
Jeff revealed that: “Jade received a phone that was pre-tampered with and as a naive kid getting free things sent you, you think ‘great I’ve got a new pink Motorola!’
“Not realizing everything you say is being transmitted directly to a reporter.”
Before adding: “It made a difficult relationship impossible.”
