Salman Rushdie’s attacker has been identified. He is Hadi Matar. According to the New York Police, charges against the attacker is yet to be filed.However, the alleged culprit has been arrested.
Salman Rushdie was attacked after he mounted the podium to give an address.
Why did Hadi Matar attack Salman Rushdie?
Hadi Matar attacked the prominent man once in the neck and also in the belly. Hadi Matar was able to enter the lecture with a pass. Just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, in Fairview, was his last known place of residence. According to police, Matar’s attack’s motivation is still unknown. He is also thought to have operated alone.
Reasons for the attack is currently unknown as Investigations are still going on.
Reports from an eyewitness indicates that Hadi Matar was wearing a black mask and an all-black clothing.
The event’s moderator, Henry Reese, was also attacked and had a minor head injury.
