Eastenders star Danny Dyer has quit the soap after nine years to join a Sky drama, plunging the soap into crisis.
Why did Danny Dyer quit EastEnders?
Danny Dyer has played Mick Carter, Queen Vic landlord, since 2013 but has now signed to an upcoming drama over on Sky, The Mirror reports.
The deal with Sky is thought to be worth six figures, which is significantly less than the £1million per year deal he has with the BBC – but the move is set to open the door to even more offers that could dwarf his BBC deal.
BBC rules have prevented Danny Dyer from appearing on any rival channels, which has reportedly bothered the 44-year-old and his fellow co-stars.
One source said: “Danny has offers coming in left right and centre, and a lot of the things he has wanted to do he can’t because Eastenders have such strict rules about what he can and can’t do.
