Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed his willingness to accept an offer to partner Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate if the opportunity arises. Gyan described such an offer as an “honour” that he would not reject, although he acknowledged that these are merely rumors at this point.
During an exclusive interview with host Captain Smart on Onua TV’s Onua Maakye show on Monday, April 15, Gyan made it clear that he would make his experience and knowledge available for the development of sports in the country. He also serves as the chairman of the Sports Sub-Committee of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s manifesto committee.
As part of his commitment to sports development, Gyan recently launched the All Regional Games, a multi-sport competition aimed at showcasing sports talent across the country. A regional tour is set to commence on Tuesday, April 16, and will run until the following month in preparation for the national championships.
Despite the speculation surrounding a potential political role for Gyan, he remains focused on utilizing his expertise to bolster sports initiatives in Ghana. Whether or not he officially partners with Dr Bawumia, Gyan’s dedication to advancing sports in the country is evident through his various initiatives and commitments.
