Renowned Hollywood actress Shelley Duvall has sadly passed away at the age of 75 on July 11, 2024. The accomplished star was known for her outstanding performances and received multiple awards throughout her successful career in the spotlight.

Born on July 7, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, Duvall initially studied to become a research scientist but eventually pursued her passion for acting after moving to Hollywood in the mid-1990s. She was also the head of her own production company, Think Entertainment, which created innovative children’s programming for cable television, earning her two Emmy Award nominations.

Duvall’s outstanding work in the industry led to critical acclaim, with awards such as Best Actress for 3 Women at the 1977 Cannes Film Festival and a 1977 LAFCA Award for Best Actress in the same film. She also won a 1984 Peabody Award for the television series Faerie Tale Theatre.

In November 2016, Duvall bravely spoke out about her mental illness on Dr. Phil’s talk show, where she expressed her need for help. Unfortunately, she faced backlash for her appearance on the show, with many criticizing the exploitation of her vulnerable state for entertainment purposes.

Tragically, Shelley Duvall passed away from complications related to diabetes, with her partner Dan Gilroy confirming the news to The Hollywood Reporter. Gilroy described Duvall as his dear, sweet, and wonderful life partner who is now free from suffering. The actress peacefully passed in her sleep at her home in Blanco, Texas.

Some of Duvall’s most famous movies include The Shining alongside Jack Nicholson, Popeye with Robin Williams, Annie Hall, 3 Women, and Nashville. Despite her success on-screen, Duvall’s personal life included a marriage to artist Bernard Sampson, whom she divorced in 1974 before finding love with her life partner, Dan Gilroy.
