The disappearance of Holly Bobo in 2011 shook the community of Decatur County, Tennessee, and made national headlines.

Holly, a 20-year-old nursing student, was last seen alive on April 13, 2011, and her disappearance sparked a search that lasted for several years until her remains were found in 2014.

On the morning of her disappearance, Holly’s brother reported seeing her walking outside their home with a man dressed in camouflage, whom he initially mistook for her boyfriend. Despite the confusion, her brother did not realize at the time that Holly was being abducted. Unfortunately, Holly’s cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head.

Zachary Adams, a Tennessee native, was eventually convicted in 2017 of kidnapping, raping, and murdering Holly Bobo. Along with his brother John Dylan Adams and Jason Autry, Adams was charged with these crimes in 2015. Autry’s testimony during the trial played a crucial role in convicting Adams and sentencing him to life in prison plus 50 years.

In a shocking turn of events, Autry recanted his testimony in 2024, claiming that he had lied to avoid a life sentence. Adams’ lawyer has filed petitions to have his conviction thrown out based on Autry’s latest statements, and a hearing to determine if a new trial will be granted has been scheduled for June 14, 2024.
