Harvey Evans, an actor, singer, and dancer who was known for securing parts in original Broadway productions of masterpieces such as “West Side Story,” “Follies,” “Hello, Dolly!” and “Gypsy,” has passed. He was 80 years old.
According to Lawrence Leritz, a friend of the Broadway star, Evans died on Christmas Eve at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey.
“He was really nice, loving and he constantly had a smile on his face. “I can’t recall ever not being held by this wonderful man,” Leritz added.

He made his theatrical debut as a teenager in 1956, with the US tour of the musical Damn Yankees, and the following year she made her Broadway debut with Thelma Ritter in New Girl in Town.
He returned to Broadway in 1957 in the blockbuster West Side Story.
Evans left New York after the flop of Anyone Can Whistle with Angela Lansbury in 1965 to join the second US tour of the musical Hello, Dolly! with original star Carol Channing.
He returned after an almost ten-year layoff to continue performing before retiring eventually.
