The nation was in shock when 20-year-old nursing student Holly Bobo went missing in Tennessee back in 2011.
Her disappearance made headlines, and the search for her captivated the country. Tragically, her remains were found in 2014, bringing a devastating end to the search for the young woman.
The case took a dark turn when Zachary Adams, a Tennessee native, was convicted of kidnapping and murdering Holly Bobo during a trial in 2017. Three other men, Jason Autry, Shayne Austin, and Adams’ brother, John Dylan Adams, also faced charges in connection to Holly’s death.
During the trial, Autry chillingly testified that Holly was taken to a river, wrapped in a blanket, and shot to death by Adams. Adams was ultimately sentenced to life in prison plus 50 years, while Autry received an eight-year prison sentence and John Dylan Adams was sentenced to 35 years.
Tragically, Shayne Austin, who had initially been granted immunity, died in 2015 from an apparent suicide. However, in a shocking turn of events, Autry recently recanted his testimony, claiming that he had lied to avoid a life sentence. This revelation has led to Adams’ lawyer filing petitions to have his conviction thrown out.
A hearing to determine if a new trial will be granted is set for June 14, 2024, leaving the Bobo family and the community anxiously awaiting justice for Holly. The tragic case continues to unfold, with new twists and turns challenging the outcome of the trial.
