Yulia Antonovna Putintseva is a professional tennis player from Kazakhstan who was born in Russia.
She has three Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances and a career-high singles ranking of world No. 27 in February 2017. She has won two WTA Tour singles championships thus far.
Yulia Putintseva was born to Anton and Anna Putintseva, and she has an older brother named Ilya. She was born in Moscow and now lives in Boca Raton, Florida. Her father exposed her to sports.
She enjoyed it and was soon practicing at Moscow’s Spartak Club. After winning a major Under 14s tournament, she relocated to Paris to join Mouratouglou Academy. Her preferred surface is clay, and her favorite events are the Australian Open and the US Open. Martina Hingis and Justine Henin were her tennis inspirations.
She also likes singing, dancing, music, Sudoku, playing cards, and chess. She represents Kazakhstan as of the beginning of June 2012.
Putintseva was heard berating coach Roman Kislyansky during a break between games over what she thought was a lack of support.
“You never applauded me when I won the ball,” she is heard saying. “You are too busy watching your videos about the flat Earth.”
“Are you completely crazy or what?” the coach replies.
Kislyansky then attempts to offer some tips, urging Putintseva to “come closer to the ball,” only for the player to tell him to “go away” and “wipe the idiotic grin off your face.”
Moscow-born Putintseva ranked 50th in the world, went down to a 6-0, 6-0 defeat against Alize Cornet of France in New Haven. In the second set, she proceeded to destroy her racket in another fit of anger.
