Sue-Ellen Cassiana “Suella” Braverman QC is a British politician and barrister who has been the Attorney General for England and Wales since 2020.

Braverman was born to Christie Fernandes and Uma Fernandes who was born Uma Mootien-Pillay. Her father Christie, worked for a housing association.
Both of her parents are of Indian origin and both emigrated to England. Her father who is of Goan ancestry emigrated from Kenya.
Her mother, Uma, who was born into a Tamil Hindu family, emigrated from Mauritius. She was recruited into the NHS when she was just 18 years old and worked as a nurse for 45years. She was also a councilor in Brent for 16 years.
She was the Conservative candidate in Tottenham in the 2001 general election and in the 2003 Brent East by-election. In November 2017, she was awarded the Her Majesty, The Queen’s British Empire Medal
