Trintignant was born in Boulogne-Billancourt, the daughter of actor Jean-Louis Trintignant and his second wife, French film director, producer, and screenwriter Nadine Marquand. Pauline, Marie’s infant sister, died when she was nine years old. She retreated and pretty much ceased talking as a result.

At the age of four, she made her acting debut in the movie My Love, My Love, which was directed by her mother and starred her father. Trintignant’s first film to garner a lot of favourable reviews was Série noire, in which he co-starred alongside Patrick Dewaere.

She appeared in more than 30 movies during the course of her 36-year career. Her father was an actor and her mother was a producer, director, and screenwriter, therefore her family was well-represented in the French film industry.
