The all-time famous Rudolf Eric Koertzen was a former international cricket umpire. Koertzen was born in Knysna in the Western Cape, South Africa. A cricket enthusiast since his youth, he played league cricket while working as a clerk for South African Railways.
Koertzen officiated as a field umpire in 108 Tests, 209 ODIs, and 14 T20Is totaling 331, with only Aleem Dar exceeding those numbers in Tests, ODIs, and all international cricket to date. He also served as the Television umpire in 20 Tests, 41 ODIs, and five T20Is in an umpiring career spanning nearly two decades 1992-2010.
He had his unique style of umpiring the slow rise of the dreaded finger being the most remembered sight to rule the batsman out – with the hat occasionally being replaced by a white cap, with the sunglasses being more or less constant.
Who is Rudi Koertzen wife Hyla Koertzen?
There is no much information about her but the famous cricketer Rudi did mention his wife’s name during an interview and he said My wife Hyla has been everything. While I have been traveling she has been the housewife, the maid, the gardener, if we are doing renovations to the house she will take charge and make all the arrangements and I’m very thankful to her.
