Peta Jane Murgatroyd, a popular Latin dancer who is both American and Australian, was born in Auckland on July 14, 1986. She was raised in Perth, Western Australia, where she was born, and at the age of 4, she started classical ballet training. Madame Lubov Nikonorenko, a former principal dancer of the Kirov Ballet, trained her for 12 years. Murgatroyd was forced to stop dancing at the age of 16 owing to an ankle ailment. She then started taking Latin dance classes.
Within months of beginning her ballroom training, Murgatroyd won the W.A. Amateur Latin State Championship in 2002 and again in 2003. Murgatroyd placed second in the Great World City Championships. She took part in both the Broadway run and the world tour of the dance production Burn the Floor.

On January 17, 1980, Ukrainian-American Latin ballroom dancing champion, choreographer, and instructor Maksim “Maks” Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy was born. The parents of Chmerkovskiy, who was born and raised in Odesa, Ukrainian SSR, are Aleksandr “Sasha” Chmerkovskiy and Larisa Chmerkovskaya. His younger brother, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, is also a working dancer.
His most well-known appearance was as a professional dancer in the second season of the American reality television program Dancing with the Stars. During his 17 seasons as a paid contestant in the competition, Chmerkovskiy reached the final round five times, placing second twice and third twice. On May 20, 2014, Chmerkovskiy won his first Dancing with the Stars competition alongside Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis.

The “Dancing with the Stars” professionals commemorated their wedding anniversary with heartfelt tributes in which they thought back on their unique day and the life they’ve built together.
