Patty Loveless (born Patricia Lee Ramey on January 4, 1957) is an American country music singer. She began performing in her adolescence before obtaining her first recording contract with MCA Records’ Nashville division in 1985.
While her first several releases were unsuccessful, she broke through by the decade’s end with a cover of George Jones’s “If My Heart Had Windows”. Loveless released five albums on MCA before signing with Epic Records in 1993, where she released nine more albums.
In the United States, four of her albums have been certified platinum: Honky Tonk Angel, Only What I Feel, When Fallen Angels Fly, and The Trouble with the Truth. Loveless had 44 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs list, five of which have reached number one: “Timber, I’m Falling in Love”, “Chains”, “Blame It on Your Heart”, “You Can Feel Bad”, and “Lonely Too Long”.
The voice of Emory Loveless has been compared to Loretta Lynn and Emmylou Harris. She has received numerous Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music honors. Her husband, Emory Gordy Jr., produced nearly all of her recordings.

Patricia Lee Ramey was born, in Pikeville, Kentucky. She is the oldest of Naomie and John Ramey’s seven children.
She grew up in adjacent Elkhorn City, Kentucky, where her father worked in a coal mine. As a result of the employment, he developed black lung disease, prompting the family to relocate to Louisville, Kentucky, to expedite his medical treatment. John Ramey died of the condition in 1979.
Roger Loveless, Loveless’s brother who played several crucial roles in her early career, died in June 2022 at the age of 72.
In 1973, Loveless married Terry Lovelace, the drummer for the Wilburn Brothers. She changed her name to Loveless after marrying him. In 1986, she divorced Terry Lovelace.
Emory Gordy Jr. was her second husband, whom she married in February 1989. Gordy has played bass and produced practically every album released by Loveless.
