Owen Roizman is an American cinematographer who was born on September 22, 1936.
For his work on the films The French Connection (1971), The Exorcist (1973), Network (1976), Tootsie (1982), and Wyatt Earp (1982), he has been nominated for five Academy Awards for Best Cinematography. He was president of the American Society of Cinematographers and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors.
The Heartbreak Kid (1972), Three Days of the Condor (1975), Absence of Malice (1981), True Confessions (1981), The Addams Family (1991), and Grand Canyon (1991) are among his notable roles. A stop was his first feature film. He received an Academy Honorary Award in 2017 for his “gritty” style.
He began working as an assistant to cinematographer Gerald Hirschfeld at MPO Videotronics during summer breaks. Later, he worked at a New York City camera rental store.
