The famous Lewis Allan Reed was an American musician, songwriter, and poet. He was the guitarist, singer, and principal songwriter for the rock band The Velvet Underground and had a solo career that spanned five decades.

Lou Reed was born on March 2, 1942, in New York, New York, United States. Reed had suffered from hepatitis and diabetes for several years. He was treated with interferon but developed liver cancer. In May 2013, he underwent a liver transplant at the Cleveland Clinic. On October 27, 2013, he died from liver disease at his home in East Hampton, New York, at the age of 71. He was cremated and the ashes were given to his family.

Who is Lou Reed’s wife Sylvia Morales?

Sylvia Morales is the second wife of Lou Reed whom he married and the marriage lasted from 1980 to 1990. She had been his manager and long-term wife. Amazingly, Morales likes the solitude that comes with living a private life, yet she felt compelled to violate her nearly 18-year media embargo to support Reed.

When Howard Sounes published a contentious biography of Reed, Morales admitted that the Reed she knew was not the one portrayed in the book. Morales, who has been with Reed for about 18 years (of which they were married for ten), asserted that he never physically abused or assaulted her, contrary to what Sounes stated in his book.

Morales debunked the notion that Reed had a mental illness by stating that he was proud of his Jewish lineage despite not being religious. Morales added that Reed promised to stop abusing drugs and alcohol about 1979, despite his severe addictions.
