Lenny Johnrose was an English professional footballer who during his career played for several clubs including Burnley, Bury and Swansea City. He was a defensive midfielder.

He passed away on August 15, 2022, at the age of 52.

Johnrose began his career as a young trainee with Blackburn Rovers and also spent time on loan at Preston North End. During these stints, he impressed enough for Hartlepool United to purchase him for £50,000.

He went on to feature in almost fifty games for the ‘Pool, scoring eleven goals. Bury manager Stan Ternent sought to add toughness to his center midfield and recruited him towards the conclusion of his contract.

He became a teacher after retirement. He was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in March 2017.

Gareth Winston and Lee Trundle organized a team of Swansea legends to play in a game that concluded in a 10-7 triumph for the legends when Johnrose went public with his health and personal struggle with motor neuron disease.
