The quarterback for the American football team Temple Owls is Elijah “E.J.” Warner.
Warner initially enrolled at Desert Mountain High School while growing up in Phoenix, Arizona. After his first year, he changed schools and enrolled at Brophy College Preparatory. Warner passed for 2,742 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior. Warner turned down scholarships from Colorado State, Hawaii, Marshall, and UConn to play collegiate football for Temple.
At Temple, Warner served as a backup to start his varsity career. On September 10, 2022, he opened his collegiate career against Lafayette, replacing D’Wan Mathis as the team’s starting quarterback. He completed 14 of his 19 pass attempts for 173 yards and two touchdowns as Lafayette was crushed 30-14. The next week, Warner was chosen to start for Temple against Rutgers. Despite making 215 tosses for 215 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, he lost 16-14.
