On June 9th, 1971, South African professional golfer Keith Weller Horne was born. Durban native Horne had a successful amateur career. Horne returned home from the 1993 World Games in Spain with a silver medal. He started working professionally in 1996. He previously attended Westville Boys High School.
When Horne turned pro in 1996, he immediately joined the Sunshine Tour, the most lucrative professional golf tour in South Africa. He won his first competitive match at the Vodacom Series: Kwazulu Natal in 1998. After that, he had a few off-seasons before taking home a couple unofficial Pro-Am titles in 2003.
Thanks to his second-place finish at the Johannesburg Open and a top-10 finish at the Singapore Open, both of which are co-sanctioned events with the European Tour, Horne earned enough money in 2010 to qualify for full European Tour membership for 2011.
His sixth Sunshine Tour victory came in 2012 when he won the Telkom PGA Championship. He earned two more victories in 2014, two more in 2015, and two more in 2017.
