Bahamian-American, Sidney L. Poitier’s death has been a tragic blow to many just at the start of 2022. He was an entertainer, movie director, campaigner, and diplomat. He was the first person of color and the first Bahamian to win the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1964.

Poitier, while, alive had four children with his ex-wife, Juanita Hardy. Little is known about Hardy today, but she was a part of the star’s life during his meteoric rise.

Not a lot of information about Juanita’s place of birth, parents, height or weight are out in the public.

However, according to Who’s Dated Who, Sidney Poitier and Juanita Hardy married in 1950 after courting for three months and created a family in Stuyvesant, New York. Beverly, Pamela, Sherri, and Gina were the couple’s four daughters.

After meeting Diahann Carroll on the set of “Porgy and Bess,” Poitier had an affair with the actress in 1959. Poitier felt obligated to his little girls and stayed for several years to care for them. In 1965, Hardy and Poitier split after 14 years of marriage.

Since the marriage, Hardy has avoided the spotlight and the media. 

According to Hardy’s LinkedIn profile, she attended Livingstone College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics before going on to pursue doctoral studies at George Washington University. 

She is the “Founder and Managing Principal of Tiger Management Consulting Group,” and she has 45 years of business expertise. She has worked as a nonprofit leader, collector, and IBM professional.
