In the American author George R. R. Martin’s fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire and its television adaption Game of Thrones, where English actor Kit Harington portrayed him, Jon Snow is a fictitious character.

Jon Snow serves as a pivotal point of view-figure in the books. One of the series’ most well-liked characters, he is ranked among the best fictional characters by The New York Times.

Because Jon plays a significant role in the TV series, viewers enjoyed the plot of his episode in the season 5 finale. Readers and TV program fans have been speculating much about the character’s parents.

In the 1996 film A Game of Thrones, Ned Stark, Lord of Winterfell in the North of Westeros, introduces Jon as his illegitimate son. Jon joins the Night’s Watch, a group that protects the far northern boundaries from the wildlings who live beyond The Wall, despite his knowledge that his chances are limited given his status as a bastard.

In A Clash of Kings (1998), Jon infiltrates the wildlings as part of a reconnaissance expedition to look into the mounting threat posed by the mysterious “Others” beyond the Wall.
