Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, better known by his stage name Ginuwine, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor who was born on October 15, 1970.
In the early 1990s, he joined Swing Mob, which was the start of his career. Ginuwine joined Epic Records as a solo artist in the middle of the 1990s and has since released a series of albums and singles that have achieved platinum and multi-platinum sales, rising to the top of the R&B music scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
His first four albums, Ginuwine…The Bachelor (2 Platinum), 100% Ginuwine (2 Platinum), The Life (Platinum), and The Senior, were all critically acclaimed and enjoyed a great deal of financial success (Gold). Billboard estimates that Ginuwine has sold around 10 million records in the US. Ginuwine won the Urban Music Icon honor at the Black Music Honors in 2021.
