On October 21, 1912, Georg Solti was born in Budapest, Hungary. At the Budapest Conservatory, Solti pursued piano and composition studies. In 1930, he started his professional career with the Budapest Opera.

He was its head until he left for Switzerland in 1939. Solti was influenced by Arturo Toscanini’s compositions as well. The work of Hungary-born conductor Georg Solti with the Chicago, London, and Paris Symphony Orchestras is well-known.

He made more than 250 recordings with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra throughout his more than 50 years in the classical music business, including more than 40 operas.
