Who is Emma Thompson husband Greg Wise?

English actor and producer Matthew Gregory Wise was born in 1966. He has made cameos in several British television programs and movies. He played John Willoughby in the motion picture Sense and Sensibility alongside Emma Thompson, whom he later married.

Early life and education

Wise was born on May 15, 1966, in Newcastle upon Tyne to architects Douglass Wise and Yvonne Jeannine Czeiler. He attended the private St. Peter’s School in York for his education.

He was an actor with Bedlam Theatre while attending Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University to study architecture. Wise followed his profession in drama at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Career

As a stage performer in the musical Good Rockin’ Tonight, which was based on the life of TV producer Jack Good, he held his first paid position.

He has been on television in a number of films and shows, including The Moonstone with Keeley Hawes, The Buccaneers with Carla Gugino, Madame Bovary with Frances O’Connor, The Riff Raff Element in 1992 and 1993, and as Sir Charles Maulver in the 2007 five-part series Cranford.

He co-starred as Marshall in ITV’s seven-part drama Wonderful You in 1999 alongside his future mother-in-law Phyllida Law and future brother-in-law Richard Lumsden. He recorded several readings of love scenes from various classic and modern works for The Carte Noire Readers.
