Sir Elton Reginald Kenneth Dwight Hercules (born March 25, 1947) is a British vocalist, pianist, and songwriter. John, who has collaborated with songwriter Bernie Taupin since 1967, is one of the most well-known artists of all time, having sold over 300 million records worldwide over the course of his six-decade career.
Critics and musicians have lauded him, particularly for his work in the 1970s and his long-lasting impact on the music industry. John’s compositions and stage persona had a significant impact on popular music. His songwriting collaboration with Taupin is one of the most successful in history.
He went to Pinner Wood Junior School, Reddiford School, and Pinner County Grammar School until he was 17 when he dropped out to pursue a musical career.
When John began to seriously consider a career in music, his father, a member of the Royal Air Force, tried to steer him toward a more traditional job, such as banking.
After such a restricted background, John claims that his flamboyant stage attire and actions were his way of letting free. His parents were also musically inclined, with his father playing trumpet in the Bob Millar Band, a semi-professional big band that performed at military functions.
