David Gold was a British businessman who lived from 9 September 1936 until 4 January 2023. Up until 2009, he presided over Birmingham City Football Club. He served as West Ham United’s joint chairman from 2010 until his passing in 2023.

A fictitious character from the BBC soap series EastEnders is named Vanessa Gold. She initially featured in the EastEnders episode that aired on June 4, 2010, and Zöe Lucker plays her.

According to series consultant Simon Ashdown, Vanessa is a “dynamic and confident” businesswoman who is “a Zöe Lucker-type.” Lucker agreed to the part on a seven-episode contract, but the producers of the series decided to prolong it after seeing how well she performed. It was revealed that Lucker would be leaving the program in April 2011. After her tales came to an end, she left on October 6, 2011.
