On September 7, 1951, Christine Ellen Hynde, a musician from the United States, was born. She performs as the band’s lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter. She is one of the two surviving original members of the rock band the Pretenders, along with drummer Martin Chambers.
The Pretenders were established in 1978 by Hynde, Chambers, James Honeyman-Scott, and Pete Farndon. Frank Sinatra, Cher, and UB40, among others, have all worked with her on songs. Her solo album Stockholm was released in 2014. In 2005, Hynde, a former Pretender, was honored with a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Her involvement with Live Aid in 1985.
