Arthur Robert Schmidt was best known as an American film editor with about 27 film credits between 1977 and 2005. He had an extended collaboration with director Robert Zemeckis from the Back to the Future film trilogy to Cast Away.

Due to his talent, Schmidt was credited with a lot of awards. He received the Academy Award for Best Film Editing for Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988 and Forrest Gump in 1994. In addition to these Oscars, Schmidt has won several “Eddies” from the American Cinema Editors for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl with Craig Wood and Stephen E. Rivkin, 2003, Forrest Gump, and for a television special The Jericho Mile in 1979.

Madeline Wilson Groenewegen was the wife of the late Arthur Schmidt. Much is not known about her but was married for 32 years. The couple got married in 1933 and the marriage ended in 1965. The reason for their separation was when Madeline passed away in 1965. the was no cause of death.
