The Muppets, a 2011 motion picture, included brand-new musical numbers that were choreographed and staged by Michael Rooney.
He sang “Life’s a Leg of Lamb” during the “Life’s a Happy Song” musical number as the butcher from Smalltown, USA.
Who choreographed the Muppets?
Later, he created the choreography for The Muppets Take the Bowl and The Muppets Take the O2 live stage performances.
Additionally, he choreographed the musical number “I’m Sorry” for the Muppets series.
He is the offspring of Mickey Rooney, who made a brief appearance in one of the choreographed scenes.
On the commentary track for The Muppets’ Blu-ray release, Jason Segel claims that Michael Rooney regularly referred to Mickey Rooney as “Dad” while they were filming.
You can’t just call an old guy dad, Segel concluded. “No, that’s my real dad,” Rooney retorted.
In addition to Dancing with the Stars, Rooney has choreographed musical scenes for the movies 500 Days of Summer and Clerks II.
He has worked with musicians including Kylie Minogue, Spice Girls, Bette Midler, Dolly Parton, Paula Abdul, and Michael Jackson in innumerable music videos, advertisements, and live stage performances.
