Whitney’s parents divorced when she was a teenager. Her father, a helicopter engineer, and pilot from Canada, spent the summers in Dubai and the UAE. Peak would go with her mother or stay the entire summer, enrolling in swimming lessons and eventually winning competitions.
Peak stopped going to the pool after her family moved to Port Coquitlam, a small town near Vancouver when she was nine years old.
