The popular Marvel series WandaVision recently came to a thrilling conclusion, with the reveal that Agatha Harkness was the show’s villain all along.
Actress Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal of the evil sorceress earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her outstanding performance.
Agatha Harkness, played by Hahn, is a central antagonist in WandaVision. Initially disguised as Wanda and Vision’s neighbor Agnes, she finally reveals her true identity to Wanda as Agatha in episode 7. Agatha is a powerful sorceress with similar abilities to the Scarlet Witch, whom she eventually faces off against in a dramatic showdown.
In the Marvel comics, Agatha was first introduced in 1970 as the governess of Franklin Richards, the son of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. She is portrayed as a powerful witch from New Salem, Colorado, and later becomes a close ally of the Fantastic Four. As the story unfolds, she also forms a partnership with the Scarlet Witch, which serves as inspiration for WandaVision.
Agatha Harkness possesses various superpowers, including sorcery, energy manipulation, teleportation, and telepathy. In the comics, she even has a superpowered cat named Ebony who assists her in carrying out her magical endeavors.
Fans of WandaVision will be excited to know that a spin-off miniseries titled Agatha All Along is set to premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024.
