At A.C. Milan, Billio began his professional career by playing for the junior academy before being moved up to the main team. Later, he played for Ancona, Ternana, Casarano, Verona, and Verona (all of which were in Serie B).
He joined Crystal Palace in the Premier League in January 1998 and made his league debut in a victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park as a substitute. After a brief stint playing for Newcastle, Billio then signed for Dundee in October 1999. The club extended for three more seasons following strong showings.
