A football player, age 21, unfortunately, passed away from a heart attack while playing in the top division of Ivory Coast.
When Racing Club d’Abidjan played SOL FC on Sunday in a league match that they ultimately won 3-1, Moustapha Sylla passed out on the field. The Ivory Coast’s left-sided defender can be seen taking several steps backward before losing his footing and falling down close to the center circle in the horrifying camera footage.
Fearful teammates and opponents quickly pleaded with the referee to halt play. The 21-year-old tragically passed away in an ambulance as medical personnel raced to attempt to save his life, club president Logossina Cisse confirmed to AFP. Cisse said that Moustapha passed away while being transported to the hospital.
