Mark Capps, an American sound engineer and music producer from Nashville, was born on December 14, 1968, and he passed away on January 5, 2023. For engineering Jimmy Sturr & His Orchestra recordings in 2005, 2006, and 2007, he received a share of the Grammy Award for Best Polka Album.

Capps came from a prominent Nashville musical family. Jimmy Capps, the guitarist for the Grand Ole Opry house band, was his father. During his career, he collaborated with performers in the pop, gospel, and country genres.

A member of a SWAT team responding to claims that he had been holding his wife and adult stepdaughter hostage shot him in the doorway of his home, killing him. He has outstanding charges for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Jimmy Sturr & His Orchestra is led by trumpeter, clarinetist, saxophone, and polka player James W. Sturr Jr. His recordings have received 18 of the 24 Grammy Awards for Best Polka Album. Sturr’s orchestra is in the Top Ten List of All-Time Grammy Award Winners, and he has received more Grammy nominations than anybody else in musical polka history.
