American outfielder Lee Owen Tinsley competed in Major League Baseball from 1993 to 1997 for the Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies.

He most recently served as the Cincinnati Reds’ assistant hitting coach in Major League Baseball.

Tinsley was picked in the first round of the 1987 MLB draft out of Shelbyville, Kentucky’s Shelby County High School.

That year, he began his professional career with the Northwest League’s Medford A’s. In 1989 and 1990, he was a member of the Midwest League’s Madison Muskies.

In 1991, he was promoted to the Southern League’s AA Huntsville Stars, where he hit.224 in 92 games. Tinsley made his coaching debut in 2001 as the hitting coach for Arizona’s AA affiliate, the El Paso Diablos.

He left the organization for a year to work as a roaming outfield instructor for the Angels’ minor league system before returning to the Diamondbacks’ organization in 2003 as the minor league outfield coordinator.
