John Bird, born 22 November 1936, was an English satirist, actor, and comedian best known for his work in television satire, which includes performances alongside John Fortune on multiple occasions.

John Bird grew up in Nottingham and attended High Pavement Grammar School. While studying at King’s College, Cambridge, he met John Fortune. During the 1960s television satire boom, bird gained to fame, appearing in That Was The Week That Was, a title coined by Bird.

The bird was originally cast as David Frost in the series by Ned Sherrin but was later cast elsewhere. Not So Much a Programme, More a Way of Life, If It Moves File It, Dangerous Brothers, A Very Peculiar Practice, My Father Knew Lloyd George, and The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball were among his other credits.

At the age of 86, he died. He died on December 27th, 2022. The location of his last resting place has not yet been revealed.

According to a statement announcing his death, a family funeral will be place after a celebration of his life in the new year.
