Dick Flavin born December 7, 1936, was an American poet and public address announcer for the Boston Red Sox, as well as a journalist, TV commentator, and writer.
Flavin was born in Boston on December 7, 1936, and grew up in nearby Quincy, Massachusetts. He attended Braintree’s Archbishop Williams High School and Stonehill College. At New York University, he pursued graduate studies in radio and television.
In 1963, Flavin was appointed publicity secretary for the Massachusetts State Democratic Committee and worked as a copywriter for various Democratic candidates, including Ted Kennedy.
He went on to work as a press secretary for the president of the Massachusetts Senate and, in 1967, for Kevin White’s successful campaign for Mayor of Boston.

Flavin’s family stated that his “most prized role” was as the day-game commentator at Fenway Park beginning in 2013.
