Charles Raymond White played running back for the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons in the 1980s (he died on January 11, 2023) and was a professional American football player.
He won the Heisman Trophy while playing college football for the University of Southern California, where he was an All-American. He was selected in the first round (27th overall) of the 1980 NFL Draft and went on to play professionally for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams.
During his college years at USC, he struggled with cocaine and marijuana use. He sold his 1979 Heisman trophy in 2008 to settle tax debts. White had five children, three daughters, and two sons.
